• History: The Gilles-Villeneuve circuit was built in 1978 with the financing of the town of Montreal and the Labatt Brewery on the old site of Expo 67. The Canadian Grand Prix is presented there since 1978 except into 1987 following the advertising dissensions. Several modifications were made to the circuit during years thus the removal of the starting line and the F1 garage construction in 1988. With its first edition the history of the automobile sport was marked with the victory of Gilles Villeneuve. Separately Formula 1, the Atlantic Formula has also a privileged place. The very first race with the circuit was a Atlantic race and that two weeks before the first Canadian Grand Prix. In 1990, Montreal had for the second time two events on the circuit with Le Mondial Player's. This event which lasted that one year was for the cars of the World Sport Prototypes Endurance Championship. From 2002 to 2005, the fans return for a 2nd time each summer with the presentation of Molson Indy Montreal. Then in 2007, Nascar arrived with its powerful racing cars of the Nationwide series.

• Historique: Le circuit Gilles-Villeneuve a été construit en 1978 avec le financement de la ville de Montréal et la Brasserie Labatt sur l’ancien site de l’Expo 67. Le Grand-Prix du Canada y est présenté depuis 1978 sauf en 1987 à la suite des désaccords publicitaires. Plusieurs modifications ont été apportées au circuit au cours des années donc le déménagement de la ligne de départ arrivé et la construction de nouveau garage en 1988. À sa première édition l’histoire du sport automobile était marquée avec la victoire de Gilles Villeneuve. À part la Formule 1, la Formule Atlantic a aussi une place privilégiée. La toute première épreuve au circuit qui était appelé à ce moment-là, île Notre-Dame, fût une épreuve d’Atlantic et ça deux semaines avant le premier Grand-Prix. En 1990, Montréal avait pour la deuxième fois deux événements sur le circuit avec le Mondiale Player’s. Cet événement qui a durée qu’un an était pour les voitures du Championnat du Monde d’Endurance. De 2002 à 2005, les amateurs retournaient une 2e fois chaque été avec la présentation du Molson Indy Montréal. Puis en 2007, c'est le Nascar qui prend la relève avec ses puissants bolides de la série Nationwide
